When I was struggling through a deep illness and my husband's illness combined, I couldn't see a path forward. I felt I was breaking down (and still sometimes do as we still struggle through chronic illness). My friend sent me a video quote from The Horse, The Boy, The Fox and The Mole. The boy and the horse are walking through the woods and the boy stopped and told the horse he couldn't see his way through. The horse asked him if he could see his next step and the boy replied that he could. "Then just concentrate on that" was the horses response. It's trite, but it has gotten me through so much darkness and loss.

Many wishes for movement...

I have so enjoyed reading everything you’ve written. You’re inspiring even though you probably would nix that idea!

Keep on your journey. It sounds fun and renewing

I see beauty in your words and the movement through your loss and your becoming unstuck. Somehow we learn to go on and if your eyes are wide open you see the progression. My best to you.

Jane, there are 2 books that speak to all the things you have felt and are feeling. One is The Grieving Brain by Mary Frances O’Connor. It’s scientifically accurate, a little heavy but fascinating. The other, by Maria Sirois is A Short Course in Happiness after Loss. Maria lives in Lenox and often has courses at Kripalu. They have helped me understand my grief and my bereaved clients appreciate the new perspective.
